Malvern, PA 19355

Our plan is to develope a club centered arround a high school community. Primary membership will be made up of local and international students in grades 7 through 12. The general public is also welcome. We want our club to be competative and a place to develope skills.
We would also like to compete in, and possibly hold, tournaments.

How is Table Tennis different from Ping Pong?

Posted by Nick on July 3, 2009

It is proper etiquette to refer to the sport as "Table Tennis". Ping-Pong is a less refined term and is a registered trademark. Most players don't mind using either term, and infact "Pongers" or "Ponging" are becoming popular terms in the table tennis community.
There are some new rules in table tennis of which you may not be aware.
  • Paddles must have a red side and a black side. No other colors permited.
  • The ball is now 40mm in diameter. Some stores still sell the 38mm size.
  • Games are to 11 points, win by 2 points.
  • The serve changes every 2 points, and every 1 point after deuce.
  • Serves must be tossed up from a completely open, unconcealed palm and be at least 6 inches high.
You can find more rules on the website of USA Table Tennis, http://www.USATT.org.
